Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services

Dr. Jankowski is certified ion the use of both diagnostic as well as therapeutic medications. He is able to dilate your pupils for an improved view of the interior of the eye. This is important if you are diabetic, have cataracts, complain of flashes or floaters, a first time patient, over the age of 55, or the doctor needs a good view of the retina. The dilating drops take about 15 minutes to work will last about 4-6 hours. If you are concerned about driving afterwards, please bring a driver with you. Through a dilated pupil, we will be able to better asses a cataract, which is a cloudiness of the lens inside the eye. The severity of the cataract can be determined and an appropriate decision can be made concerning surgical intervention. We work closely with several very qualified surgeons who provide cataract and implant surgery. We can follow you closely throughout your case. An annual dilated exam is vitally important if you are diabetic.

Diabetes can have a profound affect on your vision. Diabetic retinopathy will affect almost all diabetics at some point. Leakage of fluid, blood and other material causes extensive damage to vision. Early detection and treatment is important. We will follow those of you who are diabetic closely to monitor any changes which may be sight threatening and make an appropriate decision when further care is required.

With therapeutic medications, Dr. Jankowski is able to treat a wide varied of eye diseases, including glaucoma. As a primary eye care provider, he can take care of your red eyes, conjunctivitis, and allergic conditions. He can also treat your scratched corneas and remove foreign bodies. He works closely with several ophthalmologists to initiate, co-ordinate and follow those of you who have glaucoma.

Like so many ocular diseases, the early stages of diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma generally have no symptoms, that is why early detection is so important . A comprehensive examination is provided. Occasionally, consultations with other specialists, or your primary care physician may be needed. Be assured that we will never hesitate to recommend other professionals to help you in your health or ocular problems. Your well being is our primary interest.
